Pencegahan Risiko Infeksi Terkait Pelayanan Kesehatan

Pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi merupakan sebuah tantangan di lingkungan fasilitas kesehatan. Kenaikan angka infeksi terkait pelayanan kesehatan menjadi keprihatinan bagi pasien dan petugas kesehatan. Secara umum, infeksi terkait pelayanan kesehatan terjadi di semua unit layanan kesehatan, termasuk infeksi saluran kencing disebabkan oleh kateter, infeksi pembuluh/aliran darah terkait pemasangan infus baik perifer maupun sentral, dan infeksi paru-paru terkait penggunaan ventilator.

Upaya terpenting menghilangkan masalah infeksi ini dan infeksi lainnya adalah dengan menjaga kebersihan tangan melalui cuci tangan. Pedoman kebersihan tangan (hand hygiene) tersedia dari World Health Organization (WHO). Rumah sakit mengadopsi pedoman kebersihan tangan (hand hygiene) dari WHO ini untuk dipublikasikan diseluruh rumah sakit. Staf diberi pelatihan bagaimana melakukan cuci tangan dengan benar dan prosedur menggunakan sabun, disinfektan, serta handuk sekali pakai (towel), tersedia di lokasi sesuai dengan pedoman.
